Welcome to the Woodwork Projects shop! The saws I sell are grouped by the materials they are designed to cut and (for woodworking saws) by direction and speed or fineness of cut. If you are buying a woodworking saw these are very important considerations. The picture below shows the 3 different types of cut:
A crosscut saw is designed for cutting across the grain of the timber, will be OK on slant cuts and will struggle with rip cuts. A ripsaw is great for cutting with the grain, but very poor in the other directions. Universal blades are designed to cope with all 3 types of cut, but do not do quite as well as the specialist blades.

Who or what is Woodwork Projects, you may ask. My name is Jim Morrison and I run this site as a hobby to satisfy my interests in woodworking and website design. I have been greatly assisted at shows by my wife Maggie and sometimes by a friend as well. My main payment method is PayPal, which provides assurance to potential customers that their money is safe. I can also take debit and credit card details over the phone (UK customers only) and can also accept bank transfers or cheques drawn on UK financial institutions.
