These guides make cutting accurate angles much easier. The Saw Guide Best will cut accurately and consistently at 45 and 90 degrees, while the Saw Guide Free-Angle can be adjusted to cut between ± 45° in both the vertical and horizontal planes, thus creating compound mitre joints.
One of the guides was reviewed by Barnacle Bill magazine, who said:
We conclude that if you are a beginner boat builder looking to buy a single saw and device to help you cut ply and long rip cuts in timber then this is the kit to buy. It has the functionality of a mitre saw but the capability of a circular saw for making long cuts. It’s also capable of considerably finer cuts than an affordable power saw. Easy to use, superb value for money, quick to deploy, lighter and less stressful than the power option. At this price we doubt there is another kit out there, either hand or power, capable of delivering such superb results with such flexibility of application. If your budget only allows one saw and you have just started out in boatbuilding, buy this kit.” 10/10
Each different guide has an introductory video in the description page, and here is just one of the many videos showing the various guides in use:
Cutting wide boards. The video below (or downloadable here) shows how accurate this can be. (All the guides can do this at 90 degrees, the free-angle guide at between 45° and 90° too.)
Other videos show how saw guides can be used to make various items such as mortice and tenon joints, picture frames, small boxes, wooden buttons and mosaic tiles. All of these jobs can be done with any of the guides, although only one type of guide appears in each video. See all the videos here.
